OTJIWARONGO, 21 DEC (NAMPA) - Nearly 500 pensioners at Otjiwarongo on Wednesday received meat donated by President Hage Geingob.
Otjiwarongo Constituency Councillor, Julius Neumbo said the bull was brought from Geingob’s farm situated in the Otavi district to his office on Monday.
“We slaughtered it on Tuesday and cut the meat into pieces so that our pensioners here can share amongst themselves as a gift from their leader.”
Neumbo used his own money to buy 3 000 cans of soft drinks that was distributed amongst the pensioners together with the raw pieces of meat.
Priscilla Xamgoases, 67, thanked Geingob and wished him a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2017.
Gertrude Hameva, 65, said a gift from her president means a lot and it will never be small.
“It makes me feel happy because he knows that I also need food,” said Hameva.
Mariana Sloa, 67, said it shows the president loves them.
“I thank him and wish him a merry Christmas and happy New Year,” said Sloa.
