OTJIWARONGO, 21 DEC (NAMPA) - A 45-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at Otjiwarongo by shooting himself in the head with a rifle at his house in Ombili informal settlement.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) acting regional commander, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb on Wednesday told Nampa in an interview that the deceased man has been identified as Isak Nangoro.
His close relatives have been informed of his death, Khairabeb said.
Nangoro was living with his 22-year-old nephew at his shack in Ombili informal settlement.
The police preliminary investigations indicate that Nangoro had sent his nephew to a nearby shop to buy him airtime while he was preparing food at approximately 12H30 on Tuesday afternoon.
Upon the nephew’s return home, he found Nangoro’s body in a sitting position on a chair, with his licensed rifle in his arms.
“Nangoro did not leave behind any suicide note, and no foul play is suspected so far,” said Khairabeb.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
