WINDHOEK, 13 DEC (NAMPA) – Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) has warned potential hikers visiting resorts and game parks of the extreme weather conditions prevailing in the country.
Speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, Corporate Communications Manager Mufaro Nesongano said although NWR has not received any reports of tourists adversely affected by the extreme weather conditions, the visitors are often prone to be affected to a degree by the weather conditions as most of them come from colder countries.
The NWR said in a media release weather conditions in Namibia pose a threat to tourists.
The most optimal times to go hiking are the early morning hours or early evening hours.
“Tourists underestimate the impact the heat might have on them, which could lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion and stroke,” Nesongano said.
He further urged tourists who intend to go hiking to seek information from the respective tourist facilities on whether it was advisable to undertake any planned hike.
