WINDHOEK, 08 OCT (NAMPA) – The sixth International Conference on Engineering and Business Education (ICEBE) commenced in Windhoek on Tuesday.
The annual ICEBE was organised by the Wismar University in Germany, hosted by the Polytechnic of Namibia (PoN) and co-organised by the University of Applied Sciences Jena, also in Germany.
Speaking during the official opening of the conference, PoN Rector Tjama Tjivikua said the three-day conference will explore and share new solutions in engineering and business engineering.
This year's conference is being held under the theme “Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability”.
Tjivikua explained that the goal of the conference is to provide delegates with cross-disciplinary interests related to engineering and business education an opportunity to meet and interact with others inside and outside their own discipline.
The conference has attracted a wide international audience of scientists, representatives of industry and students committed to improving the collaboration between engineering and business sciences, as well as business and academia.
Tjivikua said this year's delegates are from at least 14 countries, including undergraduates and postgraduate students.
“I am sure this conference will be an exciting platform for the exchange of ideas and an opportunity to set up networks for future collaboration in engineering and business-related education and research,” he said.
The seventh ICEBE will be held at Shijiazhuang University of Economics in China from 13 to 15 October 2014.
