Teenager killed by lightning in Kavango East

RUNDU, 06 DEC (NAMPA) – A 13-year-old girl died when she was struck by lightning at Mabushe village in the Kavango East's Ndiyona Constituency on Monday.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Kavango East Regional crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton told Nampa on Monday the incident took place around 18h00.
Regine Shihumbu, was struck by lightning in their mahangu field and died on the spot.
Her body was transported to the Rundu State Hospital mortuary and her next of kin have been informed.
In an unrelated incident, a 44-year-old man was found dead in the bushes between the Divundu Military Base and the Okavango River.
He was employed as a soldier at the base.
Bampton said the man was stabbed or cut with an unknown object on the left side of his neck.
The incident took place on Sunday but the time is not known.
His next of kin have not yet been informed and police investigations into the matter continue.
