Rape, death and burglary in Kunene

OPUWO, 04 DEC (NAMPA) - A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 39-year-old man at Farm Gretes in the Khorixas Constituency on Friday.
The incident was reported at the newly opened police office at Fransfontein, said Crime investigations coordinator of the police in Kunene Region, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu.
He told Nampa on Sunday the suspect allegedly beat the victim and then raped her at the farm situated some 23 kilometres from Fransfontein.
The suspect has been arrested and will appear in the Khorixas Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Both victim and suspect are residents on the farm.
In another incident, a 34-year-old Angolan national died instantly on Friday when a vehicle hit him riding a bicycle on the Iitananga-Omakange road at around 10h00.
The deceased’s name is known but cannot be disclosed as his next of kin are yet to be informed.
Another fatality was reported following the death of a Namibian man at the Okorosave village at about 23h50 on Saturday.
It is alleged an unidentified person hit the deceased with an unknown object on the head. He died on the spot. His relatives are yet to be informed.
In a separate incident, the house of a Chinese businessman at the Otuzemba settlement in Opuwo was allegedly burgled between 11h00 and 12h45 on Friday.
The suspects used an unknown object to gain entry to the house of Tang Li Tseung. Two laptops valued at N.dollars 17 000, cash of N.dollars 35 000, US dollars 2 300, and Japanese Yen 4 600 was taken.
No arrest has yet been made.
Just two months ago, a Chinese businessman was robbed at gunpoint in the regional capital.
“We advise these people to use our financial institutions to keep their money, but they don’t seem to listen and this puts their lives in great danger,” Kanyetu told Nampa.
