Gardener stabbed dead at Grootfontein

OTJIWARONGO, 04 DEC (NAMPA) - A 42-year-old man died shortly after he was stabbed once in the chest at a bar in Grootfontein’s Blikkiesdorp informal settlement on Friday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Michael Gaoab who worked as gardener at different houses around the town.
His close relatives have been informed of his death.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa Sunday it is alleged that Gaoab and the 23-year-old suspect had a quarrel at the bar.
Mbeha said the suspect fled the scene after the incident at approximately 20h30.
Gaoab passed away around 21h55 at the Grootfontein State Hospital where he was taken for medical attention.
The suspect was arrested Saturday afternoon at Grootfontein and is expected to appear in the magistrate’s court there on Monday.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
Mbeha urged the public to consume alcohol in a responsible manner, noting that the police will apprehend whoever violates the law.
