Mother and sons die in accident

ONGWEDIVA, 02 DEC (NAMPA) – A woman and her two sons died when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned in the Omusati Region on Thursday.
It is alleged that the driver of the Toyota pick-up lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Warrant Officer Linekela Shikongo of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the region told Nampa on Friday the accident occurred on the gravel road between Okahao and Outapi at about 15h30.
Shikongo said the driver was identified as the 62-year-old Shaanika Kafula from Elim village in the Omusati Region’s Elim Constituency.
He was driving from Okahao towards Outapi. The deceased are Ndapewa Ndeshipewa Kaluwa, 36; the two-year-old Robert Samora Mbepo and Shalula Osama Mbepo, who was five. They were from Okathitukashau village in the Omusati Region and had gotten a lift from Kafula.
Their bodies have been taken to the Okahao NamPol Morgue.
“The driver sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to Oshakati Intermediate Hospital, via Okahao District Hospital. He is reportedly in a critical condition,” Shikongo stated.
The next of kin of the deceased persons are informed and the police have opened a culpable homicide case in connection with this accident.
