30-year-old man dies on Trans-Zambezi highway

KAYANGA, 08 OCT (NAMPA)- A 30-year-old man died on the spot and three others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in hit a tree on Saturday morning at the Kayanga village, situated some 170km east of Rundu in the Kavango East Region.
According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s report issued to Nampa here on Tuesday, the driver of the Volkswagen GTI 4 sedan vehicle, with registration number N155-327W, lost control of the vehicle and it hit against a tree on the side of the road.
The deceased has been identified as Atanasius Disho. His next of kin were already informed.
The driver and two other passengers sustained injuries and were taken to the Andara State Hospital, where they are reportedly in a stable condition.
The police have opened a case of culpable homicide into the incident.
The passengers who sustained injuries are Festus Mbundu, 33, Kasian Kambuthi, 21, as well as the 21-year-old driver of the vehicle Alexander Wana.
In a separate incident, the police have opened a case of attempted rape after a 28-year-old man tried to sexually assault a 27-year-old woman in the early morning hours of Saturday at the Shadipwera village in the Kavango East Region.
The suspect, whose name is known to this agency, was arrested and is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
