Tsumeb businesman robbed

WINDHOEK, 21 NOV (NAMPA) – A businessman was robbed of nearly N.dollars 90 000 at gunpoint at his home in Tsumeb on Sunday.
A police report issued by Oshikoto Region Deputy Commissioner, Naomi Katjiua on Monday said Zoganas Periklis Konstantinos, the owner of Makalani Hotel, was home alone at the time.
It is alleged that three unknown men entered the complainant's house, tied him up, held him at gunpoint and demanded money and diamonds while assaulting him.
The suspects managed to get away with Euros 2 500 (about N.dollars 37 700 at the current exchange rate), R 1 000, US.dollars 700 (about N.dollars 9 939) and N.dollars 36 000.
They also stole a 9mm pistol, necklace and a ring.
According to the police report, the complainant has not yet submitted his statement as he was not cooperative.
No arrests have been made yet and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a resident of the Oshaampula village in the Oshikoto Region hanged himself at his homestead on Sunday.
The man, identified as the 36-year-old Pinehas Nkandi, reportedly hanged himself at around 11h00.
His sister found his body hanging from a tree.
He did not leave a suicide note behind.
