WINDHOEK, 21 NOV (NAMPA) – Namibia’s World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Super Featherweight Champion, Jeremiah ‘No Respect’ Nakathila lost against Evgeny ‘Happy Gilmore’ Chuprakov of Russia for the vacant WBO Intercontinental Super Featherweight on Friday.
It was Nakathila's first professional fight outside Namibia.
He stepped into the ring with a record of 11 fights and 11 wins.
Chuprakov, who is also the current WBO European Champion, is still undefeated with a record of 17 fights and 17 wins
Speaking to Nampa after his return to Namibia on Sunday, Nakathila said he has learned a lot from his fight in Russia and now knows what to work on when he steps into the ring again in a foreign country.
“I had a great fight with a tough opponent and I gave it my all despite not coming out as a winner, but that is life. When I step into the ring again I will do much better after this experience,” he said.
Nakathila said being in Russia showed him how tough Namibian boxers are because he saw boxers from other countries getting knocked out in their opening rounds, but he took his opponent to the 12th round.
“Unlucky enough, the judges’ scorecards did not read in my favour despite me believing I did everything I could to win that fight,” he said.
