Angolan arrested for rape

ONGWEDIVA, 15 NOV (NAMPA) – A 24-year-old Angolan man was on Monday arrested at Omutsegondjamba village near Omuthiya in the Oshikoto Region, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old relative over a period of two years.
The incident was confirmed by Namibian Police (NamPol) spokesperson in the Oshikoto Region, Deputy Commissioner, Naomi Katjiua Tuesday.
According to police reports, the actual dates of the incidents remain unknown.
It is alleged that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the victim several times in his room at a neighbouring house.
The victim's mother, who lives in Windhoek, was informed by the housekeeper of the incident and subsequently reported the incident to the police on Monday.
The suspect will appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
The police did not reveal how the suspect was related to the victim.
In an unrelated matter, a case of reckless and/or negligent driving was reported in Oshikoto Region on Tuesday morning after a vehicle hit a kudu along King Nehale-Namutoni Road.
The incident happened at around 06h40.
Katjiua said the driver of the Toyota pickup with a Namibian Police registration, was driving to Namutoni from King Nehale when the accident happened.
No injuries were recorded, although the vehicle was extensively damaged.
The driver has been identified as Sergeant Saima Namadi Domingos, who serves as driver to the Oshana Regional Commander of the Anti-Poaching Unit, Commissioner Rauha Amwele.
