WINDHOEK, 14 NOV (NAMPA) - A case of molestation was on Friday opened against an 18-year-old man at Mariental in the Hardap Region.
In a media statement on Sunday, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Spokesperson, Inspector Slogan Matheus said the suspect was nabbed on 11 November at about 17:00 after three minor boys he had allegedly been molesting opened a case against him.
It is alleged that since 2015, the suspect had on various occasions forced the three boys aged, 10, 13 and 14-years to perform oral sex on him.
These incidents allegedly occurred behind the Mariental Truck Port and at the Mariental dumpsite.
“The latest incident was on Friday at around 15:00 at the dumpsite, where the suspect forced a 10-year-old to perform oral sex, and the minor informed his parents. Thereafter, other victims also started to speak out against the suspect,” said Matheus.
He added that preliminary investigations into the matter indicated that there could be more victims who suffered at the hands of the suspect.
In an unrelated incident in the Kavango East Region, a rape case was opened against an unidentified man who allegedly sexually violated a 16-year-old girl at Kehumu location in Rundu.
It is alleged the suspect found the victim walking with a friend from a tuckshop on Friday night.
He then allegedly grabbed her by the hand and pulled her into a nearby toilet, where he raped her.
The suspect is still at large.
Matheus also said NamPol in the Omusati Region opened a case of rape against a 17-year-old boy for sexually assaulting a minor aged at Olwaandjaana village in Tsandi Constituency on Thursday.
The victim was apparently on her way home from school, when the boy allegedly dragged her into nearby bushes and sexually violated her.
The suspect will appear before the Okahao Magistrates Court today.
