Residents clean up Ondangwa

ONDANGWA, 12 NOV (NAMPA) - The clean-up campaign which started at Ondangwa on Monday ended with an official closing ceremony on Friday.
Residents and the schools received awards from the town's mayor Paavo Amwele for their efforts at the official closing ceremony Friday afternoon.
Prize winners received shopping vouchers from the main sponsor of the event, the Olthaver & List Group of Companies, and Bank Windhoek. The value of the vouchers ranged from N.dollars 1 000 to N.dollars 2 700.
Uupopo was declared the cleanest settlement, followed by Omakulukuma and Uutala in second and third place, respectively.
The top three schools in the primary and secondary school categories respectively were Shinime Primary School (PS) in first place, Oluno PS in second place and Olukolo PS (third place) and Olukolo Secondary School (SS) and Nangolo SS in second place. Only two secondary schools participated.
“This year the Ondangwa clean-up and awareness campaign sponsorship was quite overwhelming compared to last year, a lot of stakeholders came on board to support the initiative,” the spokesperson of the Ondangwa Town Council, Petrina Shitalangaho told Nampa.
Some of the other sponsors were Ames Investment cc, the Ondangwa Private Hospital, Bank Windhoek, First National Bank (FNB), Protea Hotel Ondangwa, Huhu City, Rent-a-Drum, Coca Cola, Plastic Packaging, Henning Crusher and the J&P Group of Companies.
The theme of the campaign this year was ‘My environment, my pride.’
