Six people perish in accident outside Okahandja

OTJIWARONGO, 12 NOV (NAMPA) - Six people died instantly in a head-on collision on the Okahandja-Otjiwarongo road on Friday.
The Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Saturday said the collision involved a red Volkswagen (VW) sedan and a Toyota Fortuner, both with Windhoek registration.
The accident occurred at around 20h30 some 50 kilometres north of Okahandja on the B1 road.
Five people, including the driver of the VW sedan, died on the spot, while a woman who had been a passenger in the Fortuner died on her way to the Okahandja State Hospital.
The Fortuner had two occupants.
Mbeha said the police are still attempting to establish the identities and ages of the deceased.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at the Okahandja Police Station.
Police investigations continue.
