Four dead in collision on Omuthiya-Oshivelo road

OSHAKATI, 05 NOV (NAMPA) - Four people died in a head-on collision on the Omuthiya-Oshivelo main road Friday.
Namibian Police Force reports availed by Oshikoto Region Deputy Commissioner, Naomi Katjiua the same day said the accident occurred at the Omutsegwonime village, some 20 kilometres to Omuthiya at about 11h28.
The two vehicles were an Isuzu double-cab pick-up with a Government registration number and a Mazda station wagon with a Windhoek registration number.
The pick-up was driving from Windhoek to Eenhana and the station wagon from Omuthiya to Oshivelo.
The driver of the station wagon was seriously injured while the four passengers died at the scene.
Meanwhile, a mini-bus with an Ondangwa registration number hit a tree trunk in an effort to avoid the two vehicles. The bus burst into flames on impact.
Of its 14 passengers, one female was seriously injured.
The next of kin of all deceased are yet to be informed.
Both injured victims are being treated at the Omuthiya Hospital.
