OTJIWARONGO, 05 OCT (NAMPA) – A 23-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death at a bar in Grootfontein’s Omulunga residential area in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha, the deceased has been identified as Nikanor Kamaseb.
Kamaseb worked as a petrol attendant at a service station along Okavango Road in Grootfontein.
His next of kin have been informed of his death.
He was stabbed by a man who is said to have followed him out of the bar.
“It is still not clear to us whether the two men argued before the stabbing, but according to the preliminary information we collected one of the eye witnesses saw the deceased coming out of the bar followed by another man, who has now become the main suspect,” said Mbeha.
The eye witness apparently said as Kamaseb was walking out of the bar, he suddenly stopped and started talking to a woman.
This was allegedly when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him on the left side of his neck.
He died on the spot.
The suspect fled the scene on foot and is still at large, the Otjozondjupa police spokesperson said.
She indicated that the suspect is known to the police.
