ONGHALA, 01 NOV (NAMPA) – The Ohangwena Education Circuit on Friday awarded a certificate of recognition to businessperson Gottlieb Shapange of the Hengobe Trading Company as a reliable partner of the Onghala Combined School (CS).
The award coincided with the handover of a sliding gate and wire fence constructed by Shapange’s company.
Principal of Onghala CS, Absai Haiduwa handed over the certificate on behalf of the circuit in the presence of teachers, learners and parents.
Haiduwa said partnerships between civic institutions and private companies must be acknowledged.
“Education is a shared responsibility. Therefore, Tate Shapange’s support to our school shows partnership that is aimed at addressing educational needs at this school.”
Motivating learners to be committed to their education, he said decent jobs and high economic and social status are secured through education.
On his part Shapange, who also attended Onghala CS, pledged his continuous support to the school situated a few kilometres from the Namibian-Angolan border.
Shapange previously donated sport outfits to learners twice.
He also lobbied some of his fellow businesspersons, namely Sakaria Haimbili of the Chula-Chula Investment and Joseph Haufiku of the Boa Vida business outlets, who last year donated football kits and painted the school’s logo on classroom blocks, respectively.
Onghala CS has over 500 learners from pre-primary level to Grade 10.
