MICT regional head arraigned on poaching charges

RUNDU, 31 OCT (NAMPA) – The regional head for the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), Johannes Joachim was arrested here on Thursday for being in possession of controlled wildlife products.
Joachim, 59, was also charged with hunting of protected game on Satoka Farm in the Kavango East Region, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Acting Crime Investigations Coordinator for the region, Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Monday.
The suspect was allegedly found in possession of two elephant tusks and nine duiker carcasses.
The MICT employee, who made his first appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, was given bail of N.dollars 10 000.
Joachim’s case was postponed to 13 December this year for him to get legal representation.
He appeared before Magistrate Barry Mufana, whilst Public Prosecutor Tjeripo Muruko represented the state.
