OTJIWARONGO, 27 OCT (NAMPA) -Two farmworkers of a farm in the Grootfontein District died on Wednesday after they were allegedly stabbed at different places and times.
Farm Rooiwal is situated about 28 kilometres south east of Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region.
In the first incident, an unknown suspect stabbed 31-year-old Festus Shikongo at Grootfontein’s Omulunga residential area.
Farmworker Shikongo was found dead in that area at approximately 03h15 Wednesday morning with a deep stab wound on the left arm.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Acting Grootfontein Police Station Commander, Inspector Henrietta Amutenya on Thursday confirmed the incident, adding no arrest has been made in connection with the incident.
In the second incident, the police officer said a 22-year-old co-worker on the same farm allegedly stabbed colleague Martin Kandjimi in the chest with a knife on Wednesday afternoon.
The two were reportedly involved in a heated argument.
“It is still unknown to us on what caused their argument,” said Amutenya.
She said the farm owner reported the second incident to the police and informed the authority that the close relatives of both deceased farmworkers have been informed.
Amutenya said the 22-year-old suspect in Kandjimi’s death was arrested the same day and is Friday expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
Police investigations continue.
