WINDHOEK, 04 OCT (NAMPA) - The Bank of Namibia (BoN)’s Assistant Governor Michael Mukete has resigned from the bank to take up an executive position within the PointBreak Group Namibia.
A media statement issued by the BoN on Friday said Mukete decided to leave the bank to pursue other career opportunities in the private sector after serving the BoN for 16 years.
His last working day at the bank is Friday (04 October).
Given the nature of his role at the BoN and with the bank being a regulator of banking institutions, the bank has granted him a three-month cooling off period.
“During that time Mukete is not expected to take up paid employment in the banking sector. Upon completion of the cooling off period he will take up an executive position within the PointBreak Group Namibia,” the statement indicated.
Mukete was appointed Assistant Governor and Head of Financial Stability on 01 August 2010. Before that appointment, he served as Director of Banking Supervision Department (July 2008 to July 2010) and Director of the Financial Markets Department (January 2007 to June 2008).
He joined the bank in October 1997 as a junior dealer in the Financial Markets Department and subsequently assumed increased roles and responsibilities in the same department until he became its Director.
