Police arrest suspects in Okahao Chinese shop robbery

OSHAKATI, 21 OCT (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Omusati Region have arrested six suspects in connection with a robbery at a Chinese business outlet at Okahao in the region on Tuesday night.
Sergeant Anna Kunga of the NamPol Public Relations Unit in the Omusati Region told Nampa in a telephone interview from Outapi on Thursday that the suspects were arrested at various places within the region on Wednesday.
According to Kunga, the suspects attacked the Chinese businessman and his wife at their Okahao shop and beat them up with sticks while demanding money from them.
“They managed to get away with three boxes of cell phone vouchers and more than N.dollars 11 000,” she said.
All the money and cell phone vouchers have been recovered. The suspects are due to appear in the Okahao Magistrate’s Court Friday to face charges of robbery with aggravated circumstances.
