ONGWEDIVA, 19 OCT (NAMPA) – The Namsov Community Trust has donated N.dollars 500 000 to the Ohangwena region.
The donation, which is the seecond from Namsov Community Trust, was handed over at Eenhana last Friday.
Ohangwena regional governor Usko Nghaamwa said with the previous donation, an ablution block was constructed at the Ohehonge Combined School in the region’s Ondobe Constituency.
The Namsov Community Trust holds a 10 per cent share in Namsov Fishing Enterprises, which started operating in 1991.
In 2015, the trust pledged an annual donation of N.dollars 500 000 for each of the 14 regions for a period of three years.
This means each region will receive a total of N.dollars 1.5 million to ensure development in the areas of education, health, information and communication technology, community development, water, aquaculture, agriculture and food security.
Nghaamwa said the N.dollars 500 000 donated by Namsov this year will be used to improve the livelihood of one of the region’s marginalised communities at Embwanyana in the Oshikunde Constituency, where a gardening project will be established.
“N.dollars 13 000 has already been committed in this regard,” stated the Ohangwena regional governor.
Nghaamwa called on other businesses to emulate the example set by Namsov and others that are doing the same, in order to improve the living standard of communities in the regions.
