Dates of postponed exams to be announced soon

WINDHOEK, 15 OCT (NAMPA) - Grade 10 and 12 learners will before next Friday know when they will write their national examinations that were postponed due to the teachers' strike.
The examinations which were supposed to be written on Thursday and Friday were postponed because of the teachers strike, which commenced on Thursday.
The Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture Sanet Steenkamp in a media statement issued Friday noted that that her ministry will ensure that minimum adjustments are made to the current timetable to ensure that learners have sufficient time to study for the affected subjects.
The subjects to be written include mathematics higher level papers one and two; mathematics ordinary level papers one, two, three and four; entrepreneurship ordinary level; integrated performing arts; needlework and clothing and life science.
Teachers are demanding a salary increase of eight per cent, but the government insists that it can only afford five per cent due to financial constraints.
