Rampant rapist arrested at Uis

WINDHOEK, 03 OCT (NAMPA) – A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 34-year-old man at Uis on Friday.
Another girl was also almost raped by the same suspect.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi told a media briefing on Sunday the suspect allegedly abducted the first girl while she was playing with other children in a street near a riverbed at about 21h00. He allegedly took her to the riverbed where be raped her and fled the scene.
Shikwambi said the police was notified of the incident and while attending to the victim, another complaint was received that the suspect had abducted another girl in the same street.
Eyewitnesses told Police the suspect grabbed the girl, held her mouth shut and ran towards the riverbed. Members of the public saw the incident and chased after the man to perform a citizens’ arrest.
The suspect was taken to the police station. He will appear in court over the coming days.
In a separate incident, another minor girl was allegedly raped by a 30-year-old Angolan national on Saturday at the King Nehale settlement in Omuthiya of the Oshikoto Region.
The suspect was arrested.
The 14-year-old victim was allegedly raped in the bushes in that area at an unknown time by the suspect who apparently raped the girl on several occasions before.
He is in police custody and is expected to appear in court this week.
In another incident, a mentally-challenged girl was allegedly raped by a 44-year-old man on Friday at Sesfontein at about 22h00.
The suspect allegedly invited the 15-year-old victim to the garden behind her house, where he forcefully removed her underwear and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The girl’s sister suspected something was wrong and alerted the police.
The suspect was arrested and is due to appear in court today.
