NCHE receives international award

OSHAKATI, 24 SEP (NAMPA) – The National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) recently received an International Star award for Quality in the Gold category in Geneva, Switzerland.
The awarded was accorded by the Spain-based Business Initiative Directions (BID) for commitment to quality, leadership, technology and innovation in pursuit of excellence.
BID is an international organisation which aims to spread quality culture worldwide.
The NCHE was established by an Act of Parliament (Act No. 26 of 2003) to advise Government on issues related to higher education as well as to promote a coordinated higher education system, enhance students’ access to higher education and ensure quality higher education.
A media release issued by NCHE Executive Director Mocks Shivute on Wednesday stated that by receiving the award, NCHE makes total quality management a core focus for continuous improvement in order to maintain the leadership in its sector and community.
“NCHE has now become an example of perseverance in the field of quality,” stated Shivute.
Dr Kalumbi Shangula, chairperson of NCHE, received the award on behalf of the organisation.
Oshakati-based Alpha Medical Laboratory, among many other African institutions, also received similar acknowledgements and was represented by Dr Tamer Hassan.
