ONDANGWA, 08 SEP (NAMPA) - Onathinge Education Circuit Inspector Naemi Amuthenu has called on teachers in her circuit to work together as a team in order to reach their goals.
Addressing teachers of the circuit at their annual conference held at Ondangwa on Monday, Amuthenu said teachers who do not have good relations with their colleagues will not perform well.
She urged the teachers to always be ethical and to refrain from things such as gossip.
“Rumours are started by haters, spread by fools and accepted by idiots,” Amuthenu told the teachers.
She also said they should not make themselves guilty of absenteeism and tardiness; while they should be accountable in whatever they do; be good role models and to “not be lazy”.
“Lazy teachers create lazy learners,” stated the inspector.
She said the circuit management organised the conference in order to build a strong team able to successfully achieve its goals in education.
The conference brought together teaching and non-teaching staff and other stakeholders like the Swapo-Party Oshikoto regional coordinator Armas Amukwiyu and presidential spokesperson Albertus Aochamub, who delivered motivational speeches.
The Onathinge Circuit was ranked number one in the region 2009 with a 72.5 per cent Grade 10 examination pass rate. This improved to 86.7 per cent last year.
