WINDHOEK, 07 SEP (NAMPA) – Thirty members of street committees that will identify households to benefit from the Food Bank in Windhoek’s John Pandeni Constituency, are receiving training this week.
The training started in Windhoek on Monday and is being conducted by Cuba’s former ambassador to Namibia, Angel Dalmau, who is a consultant for the implementation of the Food Bank for the line ministry.
Minister of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, Zephania Kameeta launched the training.
Speaking to Nampa on Monday shortly after the launch, Kameeta said the training of the street committee members does not make them government employees, it just means that government is empowering them.
The ministry’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Lot Ndamanomhata said over 200 street committee members have undergone training in five constituencies out of the nine selected in the Khomas Region so far.
The street committee members are tasked with identifying potential beneficiaries of the Food Bank programme.
