OTJIWARONGO, 04 SEP (NAMPA) - A 22-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the bushes behind Telecom informal settlement at Otjiwarongo.
The incident is said to have followed after an argument with his brothers about who should use the family bicycle.
He has been identified as Marius Hoaeb, who lived with his parents, brothers and sisters in the Telecom informal settlement.
“His relatives have been informed of his death,” said the spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha.
Mbeha said it is alleged that Hoaeb and his brothers had argued over who should ride the bicycle.
The argument broke out at the family home at around 18h00 on Saturday.
Mbeha said Hoaeb walked out of the house and into the bushes near the Otjiwarongo dumpsite, where he was later found hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck.
The police were alerted about the incident and an inquest (No. 09/2016) has been opened at the Otjiwarongo police station.
