OTJIWARONGO, 29 AUG (NAMPA) – Yet another minor girl was raped on Saturday.
This follows four separate cases of rape of minor girls reported to the Namibian Police last week.
In the latest incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by three young men, all aged 18, in the Ombili informal settlement of Otjiwarongo on Saturday.
The three were arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Monday said the victim was on her way home when one of the suspects, who know her, called her to his house where the alleged rape followed.
“Upon arrest, two used condoms were found in the pocket of one of the suspects,” she said.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The victim was taken for medical treatment at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
Police investigations continue.
