Five suicides recorded since Friday

WINDHOEK, 21 AUG (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) recorded several cases of suicide over the past weekend.
In one such case, a 32-year-old man hanged himself in his shack in Max Eichab Street in Windhoek on Friday.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Head of Media Relations, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said at the weekly crime briefing on Sunday there was apparently a misunderstanding between the deceased and his relatives earlier.
The deceased has been identified as Enrico Muinjo. No suicide note was left behind.
In a separate incident, the body of a 26-year-old man was found hanging from the roof of his hut at Ongali village in the Oshana Region on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Tobias Johannes. He also did not leave behind a suicide note and his next of kin have been informed.
In another matter, the 39-year-old Johannes Ambrosius Plaatjies allegedly committed suicide after his body was found hanging from the ceiling of a room at Farm Taffel Kop in the Gibeon district in the Hardap Region. His next of kin were informed.
A 37-year-old woman hanged herself from a tree at Epumbu village in Okatope in the Oshikoto Region on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Helena Ivula. No suicide note was left behind and her next of kin were informed.
In a separate incident, Nekongo Martin, 68, also allegedly committed suicide after his body was found hanging in his shack at Uukete village in Onayena in the Oshikoto Region on Sunday.
