KALKFELD, 19 AUG (NAMPA) - Three community centres at Kalkfeld in the Otjozondjupa Region on Thursday received donations from Radio Kosmos, D&M Rail Construction and Northgate Shell Fuel Station.
The donated items included food, toys, crayons, plastic chairs, blankets and clothes worth N.dollars 20 000.
The three community-based organisations that benefited are Ngatuve Vatare Kindergarten, which caters for 54 children; ABC English Kindergarten (53 children), and Tukondja Disability Centre, that cares for 59 people with disabilities.
Organising committee member and site agent for D&M Rail Construction, Leon Steyn, said the goods were collected from Otjiwarongo community members, who donated it in July at a show that took place at the Northgate Shell Fuel Station in Otjiwarongo.
The show was organised by Radio Kosmos, D&M Rail Construction and Northgate Shell Fuel Station.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Otjiwarongo Constituency Councillor Julius Neumbo thanked the organisers for collecting the goods.
He also called on other businesses in and around Otjiwarongo district to initiate similar programmes that would assist community organisations.
