Otjiwarongo man allegedly stabbed over cigarette

OTJIWARONGO, 29 SEP (NAMPA) – A man in his early twenties died instantly after he was allegedly stabbed in the neck by a 17-year-old male suspect at a bar in Otjiwarongo.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa in an interview on Sunday the man died of a stab wound on Friday night at around 23h30.
“It is alleged that before the deceased was stabbed in his neck, there was a quarrel between himself and another man, followed by a physical fight between the two over a cigarette,” said Mbeha.
Whilst the two were fighting, the suspects allegedly pulled out a knife which he used to stab the deceased.
The deceased has not yet been identified and his next of kin were yet to be informed.
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police investigations continue.
