Tweya launches third National ICT Summit

WINDHOEK, 11 AUG - The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Tjekero Tweya launched the third National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Summit in the capital on Thursday.
This year’s National ICT Summit takes place under the theme ‘Transformation Towards Economic Growth and Prosperity’. It started in Windhoek Wednesday and ends Friday.
According to the minister, the theme calls on all Namibians to direct their efforts, energy, and resources to the rapid growth of the economy which would subsequently translate into tangible prosperity.
The previous two National ICT Summit took place over two days.
Tweya added that one extra day was added to the summit to create a platform for youth ICT, meaning students of institutions of higher learning can exhibit their ICT products.
“This addition provides an excellent incentive and platform for our generous sponsors to engage with the youth,” he said.
The summit, organised by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, aims to brings together key ICT practitioners and decision-makers and users from across Namibia and the Southern African Development Community region and increase their awareness and exposure to the latest emerging trends and opportunities in ICT.
