OTJIWARONGO, 11 AUG (NAMPA) - A woman who was reported missing on 04 August this year at Outjo in the Kunene Region, was on Wednesday found dead in a riverbed outside the Etoshapoort township.
The 46-year-old Kleintjie Goeieman was identified by her relatives based on the clothes she was wearing at the time she went missing.
It is alleged that Goeieman had gone to attend a Sunday church service but did not return home.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Thursday said Goeieman had gone missing on 31 July, but was only reported missing to the Outjo Police four days later.
“We then conducted an intensive search for her in and around Outjo, together with some community members who joined us, but we did not find anything related to her,” she said.
Mbeha explained that on Wednesday some officials of the Outjo Municipality, who were fixing a sewer line between Etoshapoort and a local lodge, discovered the partially decomposed body in a riverbed. It was later identified as that of Goeieman.
The nature and circumstances of her death are still unknown, and police investigations continue.
