OSHAKATI, 10 AUG (NAMPA) – An Oshakati man is on the run from the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) after he allegedly attempted to murder his girlfriend.
The suspect has been hiding since Tuesday morning after he allegedly slashed his girlfriend with a machete (panga) in the early hours of the same day in Oshakati.
Oshana Regional Police Spokesperson Warrant Thomas Aiyambo told Nampa on Wednesday the suspect made a phone call to his 32-year-old girlfriend at about 06h00 on Tuesday, requesting her to collect their eight-year-old son from his place in Sky Location.
“According to the victim, without any sort of confrontation, the man started slashing her upon her arrival before he fled the scene,” Aiyambo said.
The victim sustained serious injuries on both her hands and head, and was taken to the Oshakati State Hospital.
“We visited her on Wednesday morning and despite losing her fourth finger on the left hand, she is recovering well,” Aiyambo said.
The man was last seen wearing blue overalls and black socks but without shoes.
A case of attempted murder has been opened in this matter, and NamPol is requesting the public to inform the police if they spot him.
