RUNDU, 07 AUG (NAMPA) - A 24-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself at Vhungu-Vhungu in the Kavango East Region on Sunday.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Acting Crime Investigation Coordinator for Kavango East, Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Sunday the body of the young man was found hanging inside his traditional hut.
He hanged himself using a malaria mosquito net.
According to Mubebo, the door of the hut was found locked from the inside. Police have not established what the motive of his suicide was as no suicide note was found at the scene as well.
Mubebo said if people have problems they should speak to someone, preferably social workers, instead of resorting to drastic action such as taking their own life.
The incident took place at around 08h00 in the morning.
The deceased has been identified as Joseph Mbereshu and his next of kin have been informed.
Police investigation into the matter continues.
