Two die in hut fire at Tjeye village

RUNDU, 07 AUG (NAMPA) - A 39-year-old man and his two-year-old daughter were burned beyond recognition in their hut at Tjeye village in the Kavango East Region on Friday.
The wife of the deceased sustained minor injuries.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s acting Crime Investigations Coordinator for Kavango East, Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo said on Sunday.
It is suspected that the couple might have have left a candle burning or made a fire inside their hut.
The incident occurred at around 19h00.
Mubebo said people should be cautious when lighting candles or making fire in their huts.
He also advised residents to put out the fire before they sleep in order to avoid such incidences.
The deceased have been identified as Simon Ndara Kangombe and Agnes Sihako.
Their next of kin have been informed and investigations into the matter continue.
In other incident, a two-year-old girl drowned while swimming with others at Ndondo village on the same day.
Her body was recovered on the same day.The incident took place at around 15h00.
She has been identified as Kunyanda Kudumo. Police investigations into the matter continue.
