Angolan man dies at Oshalongo village

OSHAKATI, 04 AUG (NAMPA) – A 26-year-old Angolan national reportedly died at Oshalongo village in the Oshikoto Region on Wednesday when he was given water to drink and started to vomit.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s regional crime investigating unit head, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua informed Nampa on Thursday that Hanivali Frans died at about 10h30.
He and two friends entered a neighbour’s house saying they were thirsty and they were then given water.
“Frans allegedly started vomiting vigorously and died. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” said Katjiua.
His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
The Police at Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region have opened an inquest docket following reports of a 40-year-old man allegedly committing suicide on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Linus Tangeni Erastus, who did not leave a suicide note behind. He allegedly committed suicide around 06h30 at Tsumeb’s Kuvukiland location after a heated argument with his girlfriend.
The girlfriend is said to have decided to leave the relationship and she eventually left with all her belongings. Erastus was found hanging from the roof of his shack with a rope around his neck.
His next of kin are informed.
