Three suicides reported

WINDHOEK, 24 JUL (NAMPA) – Three people committed suicide by hanging themselves over the past week.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Inspector Slogan Matheus said at the weekly crime briefing on Sunday a 42-year-old woman hanged herself at her residence in Windhoek’s Okuryangava informal settlement on Wednesday at around 17h10.
He said the woman, identified as Lilie Magano Uunona, lived with her fiancée. They however had a misunderstanding and her partner obtained a protection order against her.
Her fiancée discovered her body when he returned from work on Wednesday.
The motive behind the suicide was not disclosed to the media, but Matheus said Uunona left behind a suicide note.
Her next of kin have been informed.
Meanwhile in the Erongo Region, a 33-year-old man hanged himself in his bedroom in Walvis Bay.
The incident occurred on Friday at 13h00 in the Kuisebmond residential area.
Matheus said the deceased, who was reportedly mentally ill, was identified as Edula Kangono.
His next of kin have been informed.
The motive behind the suicide has not yet been established.
In the Kunene Region, a man hanged himself from a mopane tree at Ombombo village near Opuwo.
The body of the deceased, identified as Tjimbirinyama Tjuumbua, was discovered at about 17h00 on Friday.
No suicide note was left behind.
His next of kin have been informed.
