ONDANGWA, 05 JUL (NAMPA) ¬Ė Former Ondangwa Mayor Leonard Negonga on Monday rejoined the Ondangwa Town Council as an ordinary member.
This is after the council’s management committee chairperson Apollos Dengeinge died due to illness in April this year.
Local Magistrate Peter Nangula presided over Nengonga’s swearing-in on Monday.
Councillor Andreas Kalumbu was at the same time elected as new chairperson of the council’s management committee, while Abed Matsi (former ordinary member) and Anna Iitope are the other members of the committee.
Negonga said, as a member of the council, he will uphold Namibia’s Constitution and serve the residents of Ondangwa to the best of his ability.
Paavo Amwele (mayor), Saima Namukwambi (deputy mayor) and John Martin are the other members of the seven-member Ondangwa Town Council.
Martin, who is serving on the DTA of Namibia ticket, is the only member of the council who is not from the ruling Swapo-party.
