Woman dies in car accident south of Otjiwarongo

OTJIWARONGO, 13 JUN (NAMPA) - A 21-year-old woman died on spot after the sedan she was travelling in overturned and rolled several times on the road between Otjiwarongo and Okahandja on Monday morning.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Detective Chief Inspector, Naukalemo Andreas told Nampa on Monday the woman has been identified as Drothea Uunona.
“Her close relatives have been informed of her death,” said Andreas.
The police officer said the accident occurred approximately 40 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo at about 04h00.
Andreas said the police preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control over the vehicle after allegedly avoiding hitting a warthog.
Two other people were in the vehicle which was traveling from the direction of Okahandja to Otjiwarongo.
The driver of the vehicle sustained slight injuries, while a 25-year-old male passenger in the vehicle sustained serious bodily injuries.
This passenger was admitted to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital and later transferred to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital in the capital in a critical condition.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
