Welwitschias lose to Hino Valke

WINDHOEK, 12 JUN (NAMPA) – The Windhoek Draught Welwitschias on Saturday lost their ninth game in a row in the 2016 Currie Cup against the Hino Valke from South Africa.
The match ended 05 – 66 at Barnard Stadium, Kempton Park in South Africa.
The Hino Valke, who are now 11th on the log with 18 points, became the ninth team to defeat the Namibian outfit which has not won any games in the competition thus far.
The Welwitschias are now the only team in the group without a win and are at the bottom of the log in 15th position with one point.
The Namibian outfit suffered their biggest defeat of the competition two weeks ago at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek against Down Touch Griffons by 0 to 101 points.
The Welwitschias’ next game will be against the SWD Eagles on 18 June at the Hage Geingob Stadium. The SWD Eagles are currently eighth on the log from eight games played thus far. They have 20 points.
The Namibian Rugby Union registered a team made up of only local players for the 2016 edition of the Currie Cup tournament.
The tournament is played from April to October, with the Welwitschias set to play seven games at home and seven in South Africa.
