Three people dead in accident outside Okahandja

WINDHOEK, 10 JUN (NAMPA) – Three people died and several were injured in an accident on the Windhoek-Okahandja road on Friday.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Spokesperson, Inspector Slogan Matheus told Nampa the accident occurred after 17h00 when a minibus which belongs to a poultry farm along the Windhoek-Okahandja road allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle.
Matheus said two people – a man and woman - died on the scene of the accident, while another woman died upon arrival at the Okahandja State Hospital.
“The accident occurred approximately 20 kilometres outside Okahandja and the number of people involved is estimated to be at least 10, of which the majority are seriously injured,” he said.
The driver of the minibus lost control of the vehicle and it collided with a stationary vehicle belonging to a road construction company which was parked along the road.
The minibus rolled several times.
Matheus said the injured passengers would possibly be transferred to medical facilities in Windhoek for further treatment.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
