Car hits woman crossing road dead

ONGWEDIVA, 09 JUN (NAMPA) – A pedestrian crossing the main road at Okapanda village between Ondangwa and Oshigambo was Wednesday killed on the spot by an oncoming car.
Confirming the incident to Nampa on Thursday, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s crime coordinator in the Oshikoto Region, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua said the deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Frieda Erriki from the said village.
Katjiua said Erriki was walking to Oshigambo when the driver of a white Toyota Ipsum allegedly hit her at around 18h00.
The driver of the car was identified as a 25-year-old man from Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region.
Police at Onayena, Oshikoto Region have opened a culpable homicide case against the driver.
A post-mortem is to be conducted.
The next of kin of the deceased were informed.
