OPUWO, 04 JUN (NAMPA) – A permanent structure is needed for the Opuwo Trade Fair to ascertain comfort for exhibitors, said Minister of Mines and Energy Obeth Kandjoze at the official opening of the event on Wednesday.
The trade fair is taking place in tents at the Norman Katuta Stadium, the only football field in Opuwo.
Kandjoze advised that planning for such a structure should start as early as possible to avoid pitfalls in its realisation.
“Not only will it do justice to the exhibitors but will also uplift the town and the region,” he said.
Kandjoze, who is the patron of the trade fair, described the event as a noble unifying factor as it brings people from neighbouring countries and local people together to share information.
There are more than 110 registered exhibitors at this year’s trade fair, which Opuwo Mayor Albert Tjiuma described as a big achievement for organisers.
This is the fifth annual trade fair for the capital of the Kunene Region, which will end on Sunday.
Kandjoze also applauded the town for being clean, saying this attractive state should be an ongoing effort and should not be something done for the sake of the trade fair only.
