KATIMA MULILO, 23 MAY (NAMPA) – Serial offender Naini ‘Nine” Masule returned to the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court in the Zambezi Region on Monday for housebreaking charges.
Masule was brought to court from the local prison, where he is doing time for escaping from the Katima Mulilo Police Station in October 2015.
He was rearrested in April in Zambia and sentenced later that month to two years in jail.
On Monday, Masule, 27, appeared before Magistrate Vincent Nzanca for housebreaking and robbery charges. The hearing was to confirm if he has obtained the legal representation he had applied for.
In the absence of such a confirmation, Nzanca postponed the matter to 28 June for legal status.
On top of these charges, Masule is set to go on trial for two charges of rape and two murders, which he was facing in the same court before he unlawfully escaped from custody.
Prior to his arrest in April, Masule was linked to an audio clip distributed on social media, in which he was uttering threats to police officers trying to track and apprehend him.
He also threatened to take the lives of public members who will report his whereabouts to the police.
