Three commit suicide over the weekend

WINDHOEK, 15 MAY (NAMPA) – Three people hanged themselves over the past weekend in the Khomas and Kunene regions.
A 19-year-old man allegedly hanged himself with a rope on the stoep of a house in Windhoek’s Grysblock area on Saturday at about 07h00.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said during the crime briefing on Sunday the deceased, who was identified as Hans Mitch, stayed at the house where he hanged himself.
The motive behind the suicide is not known as no suicide note was left behind.
His next of kin have been informed.
Richard Haragaeb committed suicide by hanging himself in his shack at a residence in the Groot Aub area on Saturday at about 23h00.
No suicide note was left behind and his next of kin have been informed.
Meanwhile, a member of the police force hanged himself in a riverbed near the Khorixas State Hospital on Saturday.
The body of the man identified as Herunga Katinene Otunuko, 22, was discovered at about 07h00.
The deceased was deployed at the Khorixas Police Station.
His next of kin have been informed.
Shikwambi also reported that a 36-year-old University of Namibia (UNAM) student was found dead in his room at the Neudamm Campus outside Windhoek on Saturday at about 12h00.
The deceased, identified as Mervin Kahiha, was last seen on Thursday and had been complaining that he did not feel well.
His cause of death is not yet known but an autopsy will be carried out.
