Welwitschias drawn against Griquas

WINDHOEK, 12 MAY (NAMPA) - The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) on Thursday announced its squad that will play against ORC Griquas in their sixth game of the 2016 Currie Cup.
This will be the Windhoek Draught Welwitschias third game of the competition to be played at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday.
The Griquas are currently undefeated in five games played thus far and are leading the log with 24 points. Namibia is bottom of the log with zero points from five games played in the competition.
In their opening game of the Currie Cup on 09 April, the Welwitschias lost by 17 points to 32 against Toyota Free State XV in Bloemfontein, South Africa. In their second game against the Golden Lions in Windhoek a month ago, they lost 12-66.
Their third game against the Cell C Sharks XV in Durban, South Africa two weeks ago ended 48-18 for the Sharks and two weeks ago, the Namibians lost 18 points to 31 against the Eastern Province Kings at the Hage Geingob Stadium.
Last Saturday, they lost by 07 points to 47 against the Steval Pumas in Nelspruit, South Africa.
The squad for Saturday: Shaun du Preez; Gerhard Lotter; A J de Klerk; Muniovito Kasiringua; Tinus Du Plessis; Rohan Kitshoff (c); Herman Krause; Leneve Damens; Arthur Bouwer; Heinrich Smit; Philip Nashikako; Francois Wiese; Darryl de La Harpe; Leslie Klim; Johan Tromp; Hauta Veii; Quintin Esterhuizen; Denzil van Wyk; Zane Groenewald; J C Winkler; Justin Nel and Riaan van Zyl.
The NRU registered a national team made up of only local players for the 2016 edition of the Currie Cup.
The tournament will be played from April to October, with the Welwitschias set to play seven games at home and seven in South Africa.
