WINDHOEK, 10 MAY (NAMPA) – The Namibian Boxing Federation (NBF) will host the first of its kind International Boxing Association (Aiba) coaching course for local coaches from 22 to 28 May.
Aiba sanctions amateur Olympic-style boxing matches and awards world and subordinate championships.
A group of 25 participants from all 14 regions in Namibia will attend the coaching course at the Tabitha Conference Centre in Khomasdal, Windhoek.
Speaking to Nampa on Monday, NBF Public Relations Officer Robert Haihambo said the federation has identified a severe shortage of certified or qualified coaches and has made it one of its priorities to get coaches and trainers qualified.
“The coaches who will obtain papers will in turn go back and plough their knowledge to their respective regions.
“The coaching course is amongst many events on the federation’s yearly programme, and this course will be hosted with funding from the Namibia National Olympic Committee,” he said.
